Microsoft Re-Released Windows YouTube App and Google Blocked it Again

We have previously posted that Microsoft and Google are working to together to release new Windows YouTube app for mobile users. Well, they have worked hard to release for the Windows Mobile users. And Microsoft re-released the app recently and as usual Google didn’t like it and blocked the API access of the app. Still Google is saying Microsoft didn’t comply with the terms or rules.

What happened before?

The earlier app that Microsoft released that didn’t comply with YouTube’s terms and conditions. Microsoft gave the users the ability to watch videos on YouTube without any advertisement. And the ability to download the video in their device. As, we already said in our earlier post at the end of May that Google and their YouTube publishers will net get any revenue if there’s no ad on the content.

What’s new with Windows YouTube App?

Microsoft worked on it as Google asked not to remove ads and no video download on devices. Released the new Windows Youtube app for its users to enjoy YouTube videos on their devices. Google didn’t like the new update as well and as a result they blocked the API access of Microsoft’s new YouTube app for Windows mobile devices. This is something like the fight between Samsung & Apple. Microsoft wrote a huge blog post on Technet about this and what they have to say about this app.

Google demands the app to be written in HTML5 and Microsoft don’t want to do it. Instead Microsoft is saying Google didn’t write their YouTube app for Android and iPhone in HTML5. And coding the YouTube app for Windows in HTML5 is time consuming and lengthy process.

Hopefully Microsoft will release another version of their Windows YouTube app for the users soon but I don’t think it will be written in HTML5. However, the mobile version of YouTube site should be working fine in Windows phone browser without any problem.
