Google Cardboard, a cheaper version of Oculus Rift VR (Virtual Reality) glasses. Works great with 4-7″ (inch) Android phones. Google came up with this inexpensive way to use VR and get 3D few months ago. You just need to download an app from Play Store and follow the instructions. And you are ready to use this. Since then, China have been manufacturing & selling plenty of Google Cardboard DIY kit. As time passed, they are adding more feature in these cardboard kits.
There are different sellers and same looking different products. The recent improvement is, now Google Cardboard kit arrives with NFC and head-strap for easier use. I ordered one from Deal Extreme website and arrived after a month from China. The price is extremely cheap and costs around $10 – 12 which is £6-7 and includes free worldwide shipping.
The assembly is easy as the cardboard comes cut and marked. It takes only ~3 minutes to set up and start using the VR kit. You can get help on how to do it from the website or from Google Cardboard app itself. It took around 2 minutes for me to set it up.
Once you have the cardboard setted up, you can download Google Cardboard app from Play Store. Also, there are some other virtual reality (VR) apps you can use.
