Speed Up Android 4.4+ Devices with Qualcomm-Optimized Libraries

You can now speed up Android devices running Android 4.4 KitKat or up. The small mod to speed up Android phones just put some modified bionic and dalvik files. These files comes optimized and with various improvements. And, works on basically every devices and ROM running Android 4.4, 4.4.1 or 4.4.2. Android speed optimizations are not over yet. There were a lot in the past and more to come in the future.

This patch is created by XDA Senior Member kszaq The mod came first with the Moto X after it got the Android 4.4 update. Our Android devices are already fast but it’s not enough. We need more and more speed and want our smartphones to be super-smart and faster. You will not get any benefits of this mod if you want to use it in a custom ROM. Some of the custom ROMs already comes with this patch to the libraries.

Google yet didn’t put these custom vendor specific speed optimizations yet in AOSP. Qualcomm did all the research for you to speed up your Android device running KitKat. I’ve installed this patch on my Nexus 5 and noticed speed gone up dramatically. A huge difference in Quadrant Standard benchmarking results. The score increased 10,000 more than without this patch. I’ve included the screenshot.

How to Speed Up Android?

So far, you have to flash two .zip files as update through recovery. Qualcomm optimized dalvik and Qualcomm optimized bionic. You can download them from the XDA thread from Nexus 4 General forum. You don’t need a full-wipe to do this operation and you will not lose any data. Remember, that you will lose your warranty and you will be responsible if anything goes wrong with your device. Though, I didn’t face any trouble installing this patch and working fine for me. After the installation done in recovery, you need to wipe Dalvik Cache and reboot.

Enjoy your phone with more speed. This has been reported to work awesome with Nexus 4, 5 and other devices running KitKat. On some devices you might notice it barely changed anything. Your device might already have some optimization tricks in place.

  • Hi, Saddam, thanks for this, I had not heard about these drivers before. Seeing as the Nexus 5 uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor I am hopeful this will work.
There's just one thing I need to know and that's whether it matters that I am using the ART rather than DALVIK runtime. I'm going to head over to XDA Developers to check it out.
    Thanks again.

    • You are welcome Garry! The Qualcomm library patch working flawlessly in my Nexus 5. You should use Dalvik runtime, not ART.
