Now you can use “OK Google” command in your own language. The hotword started along with Google Glass as “OK Glass”. From your Android phone or tablet or Chromebook you can use the command “OK Google” to start your query. It is officially available only in English. Other language speakers could not use it in their own language. Google Now is such a nice service to have with its artificial intelligence.
Google already enabled all the supported languages in Google Now for “OK Google” command. But they are not activated by default. Until now. To remove the language barrier and enable “OK Google” command in your language, XDA recognized developer memnoc has created a guide. This requires Rooted device and you have to edit a file in the latest Google Search 3.2.xx app. His guide now supports nearly 136 languages including accents.
This process tested with Nexus 5, Nexus 4 and other devices running Android 4.4 KitKat and Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean running devices. And, of course working perfectly.
Which Languages are supported?
Memnoc’s guide supports all the compatible languages that Google made available. Some of the main supported languages are follows:
Arabic, Bulgarian, Chinese, Croatian, Czech, Dutch, Danish, Dhivehi, English, Farsi, French, Georgian, German, Greek, Gujarati, Hindi, Hungarian, Icelandic, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Mongolian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Sanskrit, Serbian, Spanish, Swedish, Syriac, Tamil, Telugu, Thai, Turkish, Urdu, Vietnamese.
This guide to use “OK Google” command in your own language requires you to run any AOSP based ROM, even non-AOSP based ROMs are supported too. Bengali language is not supported yet for Google Now voice command. This works amazingly well with Google Experience Launcher (GEL). Confirmed to work with other launchers as well, Like, Nova launcher.
If you are looking forward to use “OK Google” in your language, head over to XDA thread and do all your changes in your device. The process is pretty easy and you can do it with a file manager installed.
