Google started rolling out a new version of Play Store for Android devices. The updated Google Play Store 5.0.31 comes with more material design. This was first introduced in Play Store 4.9.13. This version also comes with a brand new icon. And, “What’s New” section is now on top of app details page. Easier to check what changed or updated in the new version of any app or games.
How to install?
Google Play Store 5.0.31 requires your Android device to be running at least Android 2.3 Gingerbread to Android 4.4.4 KitKat. The new version is not working on Android L developer preview version. It is continuously crashing. If you are not using Android L, just download the app from the Download section below and install it like any other app.
How to revert back to older version?
I installed it on my Nexus 5 running Android L. And, guess what? It’s crashing all the time. If you installed the app like me and you can not use it follow the following steps to revert back to an older version. I even downloaded an older version and wanted to install, but didn’t work.
Go to Settings and select Apps. Find “Google Play Store” and tap on it. Select “Uninstall Updates” and you are done. The app will now reset back to factory version and within few minutes it will download the latest stable version for your device.
