To identify birds from photo Cornell University created an app called “Merlin” which identify birds and gives them a photo ID. The tool is very impressive and easy to use. Merlin app is available for Android, iOS and web at the moment. Regardless the platform you are using, you will be able get bird photo ID from your device.

Pre-Order Samsung NX500 – 28MP Camera for $799.99
Samsung’s next compact system camera (CSC), NX500 is up on the pre-order row. The smart camera is having the same 28MP BSI APS-C CMOS sensor as found on Samsung NX1. Meaning you can have all the benefits of the sensor and DRIMe V image processor in a compact body. As for the price, it is cheaper. If you couldn’t get a NX1 because of the price, you can consider getting an NX500. If you are living in the USA, you can pre-order Samsung NX500 (EV-NX500ZBMJUS) camera + 16-50mm Power Zoom OIS lens from Samsung’s own website or from other retailers for $799.99.
Samsung NX1 Getting a Big Firmware Update
Samsung soon releasing a firmware update for the NX1 camera. This is going to be a huge update for the camera and this will be the second update from Samsung. The update supposed to bring the firmware version to 1.2. Previous update was v1.10. The firmware update will release in “mid-January” and no other date set.
